As first-generation Latino college graduates, our stories are a testament to resilience, determination, and the power of dreams. Our parents immigrated to the States with nothing but the hope for a better future. Growing up, we had no one to guide us through the labyrinth of high school and college applications. The path was uncertain, but our resolve was unwavering.
From an early age, we knew that education was our ticket to a brighter future. We both spent countless hours researching schools, understanding the intricacies of the application process, and preparing our applications. Despite the challenges, we were fortunate to be accepted into every college we applied to. Our journey didn't stop there. We also applied for and received nationally competitive scholarships and program placements, equipping us with the knowledge and skills necessary to help others stand out in a competitive field.
Coming from a humble background, with parents who lacked the financial resources and knowledge to support us, we understand firsthand the obstacles many face. This personal experience has fueled our passion for helping others achieve their dreams. We want to empower individuals to accomplish things they never even imagined possible.

At Paving The Path, we offer two enriching mentorship options designed to support your personal and professional growth.

For a more tailored experience, opt for individualized coaching with one of our Paving The Path consultants. We offer weekly or bi-weekly sessions, providing personalized support to meet your unique needs. Whether you require assistance with academic planning, professional development, scholarship searches, interview preparation, or essay revisions, our consultants are here to help. This option is available for a fee, which can be provided upon request.

Are you a high school or undergraduate student?
Join our Mentorship Matching Program as a mentee and connect with our extensive network of leaders across diverse fields. This complimentary program offers invaluable guidance and insights from experienced professionals worldwide, dedicated to helping you succeed. You will be paired with a mentor who can support and guide you through your journey.
We recognize the importance of connecting with individuals outside our immediate communities to broaden our horizons, particularly for young people who may often be confined to their localities. As such, you may be matched with a mentor from a different geographical location.
Applications for mentees open annually on August 1st and close on October 1st. Notifications of acceptance are sent by November 1st, and mentors will reach out shortly thereafter to initiate the first conversation. The program runs from November to May. All participants are required to attend virtual programming hosted by Paving The Path for community building and networking, but you are encouraged to take full advantage of additional opportunities as needed or desired.

About
Edwin Santos
Edwin holds a Bachelor of Arts in Legal Studies and two Undergraduate Certificates—Politics Policy & Law and Community-Based Research—from The American University. He is currently a Master of Public Administration candidate and plans to pursue a Juris Doctorate.
Edwin has extensive experience, ranging from non-profit organizations to state and federal government to higher education institutions.
He has been selected to participate in nationally competitive programs, such as the Truman Scholarship, the Voyager Scholarship, the Henry Clay College Student Congress, and the PPIA Junior Summer Institute at UC Berkeley. He is also the recipient of numerous awards and recognitions for his dedication to social justice and public service.

Jeremy Acaba
Jeremy holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies with a concentration in Foreign Policy and National Security and a regional focus in East Asia from The American University. He plans to pursue a Juris Doctorate and become a Judge Advocate General's Officer for the Navy.
Jeremy has experience with the U.S. State Department and national non-profits and is passionate about education equity and voter participation.
